Implementation Project Manager - SaaS

Project Manager with a background in Software Implementation projects for SAAS or COTS software-based systems working with clients’ as the project manager responsible for the software implementation life cycle is required by a leading software company in the life sciences/pharma domain to manage the delivery of multiple SAAS / physical client based software projects / working alongside the professional services team to deliver projects on time and to specification, by working closely with their implementation consultancy / professional services teams.

Salary $70-90k + Benefits.

This is a chance to work as a Project Manager on a tech for good product that helps aid rapid drug discovery for new life-changing drugs and vaccines.

The location for this role is remote within central or the Midwestern US, ideally in the Central Time Zone, but you will need to be within reach of a major airport. The role will involve liaising with clients across the US (East to West Coast) and the team in the UK. 

Key skills as a Project Manager – Software Implementation would include

  • Sound Project Management experience managing SAAS or COTS client-centric software implementation projects with heavy customisation/configuration for mid- to big-scale customers to ensure timeline and budget are not exceeded and that customers are satisfied, working alongside implementation consultants / professional services.
  • Experience in managing multiple concurrent software implementation projects for different clients.
  • Have a methodical work approach, strong prioritisation skills and excellent attention to detail, and essentially the quality of the deliverables
  • Experience of the SDLC using Waterfall and ideally with experience of Agile approaches.
  • Be able to understand software architecture and be able to pick up technical concepts and communicate with technical staff (platform is built in .Net / Microsoft stack)
  • Be experienced in recognised project management methodologies such as APM, PMI or Prince
  • Ideally, a degree educated in a scientific / computer science / numerate / STEM background
  • Any experience in scientific software for the pharma or life sciences domain, such as LIMS, Laboratory information systems, drug discovery, or ELN / Electronic Lab Notebook Software would be an advantage. 
  • Have excellent, proven customer relationship skills combined with excellent decision-making/leadership capabilities

This role will be ideal for an existing Project Manager, Implementation Consultant, or Implementation Manager with Project Management skills.

Key aspects of the role of Project Manager would include

  • Customer-facing Project Management to ensure customer software implementation projects are delivered on time and within budget, for a product that involves extensive customisation/configuration to match business workflows.
  • Ensuring the customer is delivered the required software specification and quality are managed as this is very important in scientific environments
  • Ensuring the customer gets a good experience and is highly satisfied
  • To manage multiple concurrent software implementation projects
  • Project Management of internal planning, resource management, task management and upward reporting
  • Developing Project Management documentation, including internal and external plans, project status reports, risk and issue management
  • Extracting project scope from contractual / sales documents to ensure the project is delivered within the scope
  • Managing internal meetings and meeting internal teams to define and update project tasks, and ensure estimates are updated as the project progresses
  • Working with internal managers to help negotiate prioritisation and resource allocation
  • Chair regular review meetings with the customer via video and email.
  • Proactively manage customer expectations
