A Product Safety Manager with an electronics or devices background is required to lead the product safety strategy across the end-to-end product lifecycle—from design through to overseeing testing and compliance efforts, reviewing field returns, customer escalations, and continuous improvement. This role is necessary for a global home décor brand launching an exciting new range of licensed decorative lighting.
📍 Location: Bay Area – Hybrid – 3 days at Burlingame/Redwood City – California offices
Salary Circa $130-163k + Bens + Bonus
This is a new role and opportunity to combine deep electrical safety expertise with creative agility in a fast-paced consumer environment. You’ll drive compliance (UL, CE, IEC), lead risk assessments, and help shape a culture of safety while working cross-functionally with engineering, legal, sourcing, and more.
🎯 Key skills you will bring to the role of product safety manager
- Sound experience in electrical/consumer product safety
- Electronic Engineering Degree / Masters
- Deep knowledge of global safety standards (UL, CE, IEC)
- Strong technical & cross-functional leadership skills
- Bonus: consumer electronics or lighting industry experience
🔧 What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead product safety strategy for licensed lighting products
- Own risk assessments (FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis), testing protocols & compliance docs
- Oversee factory audits & global safety processes (frequent travel to Asia required)
- Act as the internal SME for all things product safety
- Role is an individual contributor role with a background in leading safety programs across internal teams and manufacturers
This would well be a product safety engineer or Product safety manager, and the role is more weighted towards product safety than compliance.
