Business Development Manager – Defense - Command & Control

Business Development Manager – Defense is required to drive growth across Germany, Central Europe, and NATO defence markets for a leading, Norway-founded global technology provider specialising in advanced visualisation, collaboration, and command & control (C2) solutions. This is a remote role based in Germany, focused on building and converting high-value opportunities with defence primes, MoD’s, the Bundeswehr, NATO organisations, allied military agencies, primarily in Germany, but also in central Europee.

Generous Base Salary + OTE + Benefits (this is a remote role in Germany, travelling to customers)

Key skills required for the Sales & Business Development Manager – Military/MoD (Germany)

  • Proven sales and new business development experience within defense technology, C2 / Command & Control / C4ISR / Mission Systems for land, sea or air.
  • Ex-military background in Bundeswehr or Luftwaffe highly desirable, particularly with experience in control / command and control rooms / C2 / C4 or operational environments
  • Strong track record of winning and closing multi-million, multi-year contracts in the German market with defence primes, MoDs, NATO bodies, or allied agencies
  • Deep understanding of defence procurement cycles, including RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs
  • Knowledge of security and compliance standards (e.g. NATO standards, multi-classification C2 environments, TEMPEST)
  • Ability to engage credibly with senior military and government stakeholders (colonel level or equivalent)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Fluency in German, English and other European languages is advantageous
  • Willingness to travel across Europe and NATO countries (up to 30%)

What you’ll do as a Sales & Business Development Manager – Military/MoD (Europe & NATO)

  • Develop and execute a go-to-market strategy targeting German defense / defence market & European MoDs, NATO commands, and allied defence agencies
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key decision-makers, including operational commanders, CIOs, and security authorities
  • Identify, manage, and lead responses to RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs across defence procurement programmes
  • Drive targeted sales campaigns in close collaboration with leadership, product, and technical teams
  • Oversee active projects, ensuring effective coordination with NATO, EU, and government partners
  • Represent the business at industry events, trade shows, and military exercises across Europe and NATO
  • Provide market intelligence and customer feedback to support product development and strategic planning
  • Ensure full compliance with export controls, security requirements, and procurement regulations

    Flexible location: Italy, France, Spain, Belgium Italy, Germany. (Remote role within these locations with travel to customers/events)

    Key skills required for the Business Development Manager – SaaS, Defence, EMEA

    • Proven experience in business development/sales with a strong track record selling SAAS / complex software solutions within the defence/defense sector, ideally across SAAS, secure communications, cyber, or adjacent complex ICT solutions
    • Strong understanding of MoD / NATO procurement, acquisition frameworks, and how defence primes and system integrators buy and deliver programmes
    • Demonstrable success managing complex, multi-stakeholder deals with long sales cycles
    • Ability to build trusted relationships across procurement, programme teams, engineering/technical authorities, and integrators
    • Knowledge of secure collaboration / Secure communications, video communications platforms,  VOIP would be an advantage and the security principles that underpin them
    • Eligibility to obtain and maintain national/NATO security clearance (Secret or higher preferred)

    • Utilise your black book of NATO / European MoD/defence prime contacts, to accelerate new business
    • Own and execute a strategic sales plan to accelerate the adoption of secure video collaboration solutions across European defence organisations.
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities using market intelligence, partner routes, and existing networks within the defence ecosystem.
    • Build and maintain senior relationships with key decision-makers across MoDs, primes, and the DIB
    • Navigate highly regulated procurement cycles, aligning commercial strategy to acquisition processes and compliance requirements.
    • Collaborate with internal product and engineering teams to map mission-critical needs to the solution roadmap and delivery approach
    • Strengthen regional presence through active participation in defence forums and events, elevating brand credibility and pipeline
