Technical Implementation & Software Engineer is required to join an innovative early-stage technology start-up developing cloud-based SaaS solutions within the renewable energy sector.
Location: Cambridge – Hybrid Preferred / Remote UK Considered (with ocassional travel to customers)
This is a genuinely hybrid technical role combining customer-facing SaaS implementation, software configuration and customisation, complex application support and hands-on Java software development.
You’ll join a small, collaborative team, working directly with customers to implement, integrate and support a sophisticated SaaS platform, while contributing to software development and product enhancements.
With approximately 60% focused on technical implementation and customer enablement and 40% on software engineering, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, writing code and taking ownership in a fast-moving start-up environment.
Key skills required for the Technical Implementation & Software Engineer
- Experience implementing, configuring, customising and supporting complex B2B SaaS software applications.
- Strong customer-facing technical experience, including requirements gathering, software implementation and stakeholder management.
- Experience in application support, incident management, troubleshooting, debugging and root cause analysis.
- Hands-on Java development experience, ideally with some exposure to Spring Boot, Micronaut or similar frameworks.
- Understanding of APIs, third-party integrations, microservices and modern software architectures.
- Exposure to some of the following would be advantageous:
- AWS, cloud infrastructure and CI/CD
- Kubernetes, Docker or containerised applications
- Kafka and event-driven architectures
- IoT, connected devices or hardware engineering
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with a proactive, adaptable approach suited to an early-stage start-up.
You don’t need to tick every technical box. We’re particularly interested in candidates who combine customer-facing SaaS implementation and support experience with practical Java development skills and a willingness to learn.
