Head of DevOps required with hands on DevOps / line management skills in some of AWS / Azure DevOps, Terraform, Docker, CI /CD, Automation, Powershell, is required to lead a team of 3 DevOps Engineers and drive forward the DevOps strategy and work across the software development function of around 60 people to remove manual processes and own and improve build / release / deploy pipelines as well as automate and provide tooling / services for the development teams to create releases for early enhancement is required by respected software house who SaaS Software is used by the majority of the worlds to 20 pharma companies.

This role will be hybrid and will require being in the office which is closed to London Bridge 1 or 2 days per week.

The Head of DevOps role could suit a DevOps Manager, DevOps Team Leader or Head of DevOPs who wants to lead a small DevOps function of currently 3 people and play an active role in enhancing their overall DevOps capabilities but also get involved in hands on DevOps activities, scripting, automation, cloud deployment etc. This company are at an early stage in terms of AWS adoption so it will be a chance to set and delivery the DevOps strategy across the business.

Key skills required as the Head of DevOps would include

  • Experience of line managing / recruiting a DevOps team ideally in a Software House or SaaS company
  • Someone who is still hands on, and enjoys this
  • Knowledge with cloud technologies (preferably AWS or Azure DevOps).
  • Strong knowledge of CI / CD / Automation, Scripting ideally with Terraform, Docker
  • Knowledge of Windows Systems / PowerShell would also be useful
  • Ideally experience of building up a DevOps team and delivering a transformation away from manual processes
  • Ideally a University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other technical discipline.
  • Experience of Prioritising and managing backlogs
  • Experience of leading agile meetings (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives)
